MATCONS is de tweejaarlijkse internationale conferentie van conservatoren in Roemeniƫ.
Taking an international perspective, MATCONS 2011 is focusing on the scientific research and its direct application to the treatment and analysis of cultural heritage as well as on the practical problems of intervention facing conservators and restorers and innovative
possibilities for the conservation practice.
MATCONS 2011 features plenary sessions, parallel sessions, poster sessions, short training modules on non-destructive and micro-destructive physical-chemical techniques, a round table on education and training issues, the National Exhibition of Restoration, commercial exhibits, and the award of prizes for the best MSc/PhD theses on conservation science topics. Plenary lectures will provide the state-of-the-art of the international research in the field of conservation and restoration.

All presenters can submit written papers. A selection of scientific papers will be published in a special issue of e-Preservation Science. All papers will be published in the Conference Proceedings (postprint).
Social events include visits to the Etnographic Section of Oltenia Museum as well as to historical churches in Craiova each evening, a Piano & Opera Arias Concert and a post-conference trip.
